Stations of the Cross will be held on Fridays at 12:30 & 7 PM during Lent. A sign up sheet is in the commons if you would like to lead the 7 PM Stations on any one of the Friday evenings.

FASTING & ABSTINENCE: Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence no meat is allowed. All the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. Note: If a person is unable to observe the above regulations due to ill health or other serious reasons, other suitable forms of self-denial are encouraged.

EASTER LILIES FOR THE ALTAR For anyone wishing to contribute to Easter flowers for the altar, there is a donation box in the commons.

The ANNUAL DIOCESAN HAITI GATHERING will be held on Saturday, March 20th at St. Thomas Aquinas in Charlottesville from 8:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: All those involved in Haiti Twinning or interested in Haiti are welcome to join in a day of celebration, education and networking. This year’s focus is “Haiti Solidarity – After the Earthquake” Our Stories, Our Struggles, and Our Search for Solutions”. It begins with a Weekend…A three day weekend helps you experience your Catholic faith and encourages a spiritual life that is filled with joy, laughter, and enthusiasm. You are invited to seek an enriched relationship with God within the framework of a Christian Community. From Thursday evening through Sunday evening a team of Catholic lay people and spiritual advisors will talk and lead discussions emphasizing: the meaning of grace and the sacraments; the need for prayer; and ways of living our life in union with God. Our area is hosting a Men’s and a Women’s Cursillo weekend at Jubilee House in Abingdon in the coming months: Men’s weekend: April 15-18 (Contact Tom Boyle at 276-525-1104) and Women’s Weekend: May 13-16 (Contact Ann Baldwin at 276-783-4474). Family Dinner & Movie Night at St. Jude
Please join us Friday, March 26th, at 6:00 pm for the critically acclaimed animated movie Up & Stations of the Cross. Our Lenten meal will include vegetable soup, mac & cheese, drinks, and movie snacks & desserts! This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy quality time with other families in our parish. This family event is free to all who wish to come but please sign up in the commons so that we will be sure to have enough food!!

Mission Trip to Tanzania - Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers announce the Explore My Mission contest for Catholics (ages 18 to 35) with a passion for living the Gospel by helping others. Win a two-week, short-term mission trip in Tanzania working along side the Maryknoll East Africa Mission Community in their service among the poor near Lake Victoria. To enter, create a video, three minutes or less, featuring you, the service or ministry with which you are involved, and the reason you would be a good choice for this mission project. Amateur videos are welcome. Video entries may be uploaded to the official contest website, www.ExploreMyMission.org until April 9, 2010. The two winners will be in Tanzania the first two weeks of July 2010.

St. John Neumann Academy’s Open House
All are welcome to attend our Open House on Thursday, March 25th from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Faculty, administration, and parents will be available to answer questions about our academic program and school life. Prayer for the Unborn - The national organization “40 Days for Life” is in Roanoke through March 28th, for 40 days of prayer, fasting, community education & a vigil outside the abortion clinic in Roanoke. GARDEN CLEAN UP DAY - Saturday, March 27th
Lots of help is needed spreading mulch and pulling weeds starting at 9am. Knights of Columbus and CCM students will be helping. Can YOU help too?? Especially if you have one of the family gardens here at the church, please be here to clean and mulch your garden.
