CHRISTIAN FORMATION
All Religious Education Classes resume their regular schedule starting Sunday, 1/11. Adult Religious Education Class meets on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8pm. The adult topic January 11th is Ch. 23–Life in Christ, Part One & Ch. 24–Life in Christ, Part Two in United States Catholic Catechism for Adults presented by Dr. Salle Ann Gill. St. Jude Cub Pack 298
The pack continues to meet at St. Jude. Meetings are held on the first, third and fourth Tuesdays, each month, from 6:30 to 8:00. The pack welcomes new members, boys in grades 1-5, at any time. Activities this winter and spring include a pinewood derby race, hiking, Frisbee Golf and fishing. Interested boys and parents are invited to visit with the pack’s scouts and leaders after Mass on Sunday, February 1st at the Knight of Columbus breakfast.

JUSTICE & PEACE
March for Life Three bus trips are currently being planned: On Jan. 21 at 4pm, a youth group bus will leave from Salem. Teenagers will need permission slips and $40. The group will stay in sleeping bags in a DC-area church, and attend a youth rally the next morning. From there, they join the March to the Supreme Court Building. The bus will return around 10pm to Salem. Permission forms are due Jan 11th. Sponsored by St. Jude and the Gift of Life. Contact St. Jude parish office for more info.
St. Jude Catholic Church will be sponsoring a bus to go to the March for Life on Jan. 22. No fee is charged though donations are appreciated. Contact Don Shomette (540-257-0877) for more info.
On Jan. 22, a bus will leave Roanoke from St. Elias Church at 6:30 am and return around 10 pm. The cost for adults is $30, for students $15. Make check out to: St. Gerard Church, and mail to Shirley Joslin, 636 Timberidge Rd., Vinton, VA 24179 by Dec. 31. For info call: Shirley 345-3389.

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY (YAM)
Are you 20 or 30-something? Looking for some food, fun and fellowship? Then YAM invites you to the following events this winter: January 24th - Young Adult Ministry Great Adventure Bible Study discussion group begins. We will meet after the 5:30 Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help to view the first of the Great Adventure Bible study series, a dynamic, 24 week scripture study by Jeff Cavins. On January 31 at 6:40 we will meet at Famous Anthony's in Salem to discuss what we've learned and go over the schedule for the rest of the study. Study materials are available for purchase ($30 to OLPH parishioners, $40 for non-parishioners), but are not required. Come to as many of the sessions as you are able. All you need is a Bible and an interest in spiritual formation through scripture! January 17th - Blizzard Bowl, 2 pm, Lee-hi lanes, Apperson drive. $10 per person for shoe rental/2 rounds of bowling.
